Description
The Therapy Place is a nonprofit pediatric therapy center providing occupational, physical, and speech-language services in a family-friendly setting. We serve more than 150 children each week and pair evidence-based clinical care with robust resources and encouragement for families. Our mission centers on providing traditional and innovative therapies and recreational opportunities for children with special needs while supporting parents and caregivers. We also operate the Bridges School—an on-site private program for preschool through 5th grade—where therapists and educators work together in a transdisciplinary model to maximize each child’s progress and independence.
Scope of Practice:
In accordance with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Physical Therapists prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat movement dysfunction and promote optimal physical function, mobility, and participation across environments. Pediatric Physical Therapists at The Therapy Place serve infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents from birth through age 18. Services address, but are not limited to: Gross motor delays Balance, coordination, and postural impairments Neuromuscular and developmental movement disorders Orthopedic conditions and injuries Gait abnormalities and functional mobility limitations Strength, endurance, and motor planning deficits Adaptive equipment, orthotics, and mobility device needs Physical Therapists at TTP are integral members of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate closely with families and other professionals to support each child’s development and functional participation.
Roles and Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations
Develop individualized plans of care based on evaluation findings
Provide direct therapy services using evidence-based practices
Monitor and document patient progress toward established goals
Provide home exercise programs (HEP) and caregiver education
Recommend materials, strategies, equipment, and supports for home and community carryover
Documentation & Compliance
Complete accurate, timely documentation in accordance with clinic policy, state regulations, and payer requirements
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, professional standards, and ethical guidelines
Participate in required in-services, trainings, and continuing education
Collaboration & Teamwork
Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, educators, and administrative staff
Work with families, funding sources, and vendors to support equipment acquisition and implementation
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and care coordination Supervision & Professional Development
Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) in accordance with state regulations
Supervise physical therapy students as assigned
Clinical mentorship and support provided as applicable
